Our story
A better way to blend two names
CoupleNaming started as a simple frustration: every name-combiner we tried just chopped two names in half and stapled them together. We wanted something that actually sounded like a name.
Most "name combiner" tools online work the same way: take the first half of one name, the second half of another, and jam them together. The result is usually clunky, hard to say out loud, and rarely something you'd actually want on a wedding invite, a hashtag, or a shared Instagram handle.
We built CoupleNaming to fix that. Instead of a fixed midpoint cut, our algorithm looks at where each name naturally breaks — between a vowel and a consonant, at a syllable boundary — and tries dozens of combinations from both directions. Every result gets a Flow Score based on how easy it is to pronounce, so the combinations that actually sound like names rise to the top.
What we believe
A couple name, a baby name shortlist, or a shared brand name should feel considered, not random. We think a free tool can still be a well-made one — syllable-aware, private by default, and built for people who care about getting the small details right.
Our Story
By Priya Nair, co-founder — it started with something simple: finding a name that felt like us.
In March 2026, my fiancée Ahaan and I were planning our engagement and wanted a cute, memorable name for our shared Instagram account. We tried mixing our names ourselves, scribbling different combinations on paper and testing a few online name generators.
But most of the results felt random, awkward, or just didn't sound like something we would actually use.
After way too many failed combinations, I decided to build a small tool of my own — something that could make the process quicker, more creative, and a little more fun.
What started as a weekend project soon became Couple Name Combiner. We shared it with a few friends, and their encouragement made us realize that other couples might enjoy it too.
So we turned our little experiment into a tool for everyone.
